High King Haakon, also known as Haakon Hammer-Thorn, and the Reverend, was the Jarl of Solitude and the first High King of the reunited Skyrim Kingdom, who founded the Haakonian Empire. In his 26-year reign, Haakon rebuild his kingdom with the help of domestic and trade policies with the Fourth Empire, and remained one of the greatest kings of Skyrim in the Fifth Era.

Biography[]

Early years[]

He was the only son of Jarl Elisif the Fair and his father High King Torygg, he was born during the Skyrim Civil War in 4E 198.[1] He was at less then four years old when his father was killed by Ulfric Stormcloak, the Jarl of Windhelm. After the War of the Red Dragon, Skyrim had freed with the Fourth Empire defeated the Stormcloaks, and allowing Skyrim to be an independent kingdom once more. Haakon and her mother had participate during Wedding of Empress Marcella Varian and her wife Jenassa, as well as Marcella and Jenassa stayed at the Empress' Tower in Solitude and developed a relationship with the Varians.[2][3]

High King[]

Since the Fifth Era, Elisif and Haakon run affairs' and rebuilding Skyrim, as well putting down the remnants of the Stormcloaks which was disbanded at the beginning of the Fifth Era. By Elisif's death in 5E 45, Haakon became Jarl, and over the next month, proclaimed the first High King of the Imperial controlled Skyrim, called the Haakonian Empire.[4][5]

As High King, Haakon proclaimed the Imperial city of Solitude to be his capital, which lead controversy. He continued developed with the Empress Marcella Varian and her adoptive daughter, Livia Varian. Putting down multiple rebellions, which known as the Nordic Rebellion Wars for about the majority of his reign. On 5E 51, Haakon married an Imperial women named Vatotis, and barely produced a heir with no success, which caused an scandal that Haakon had relationship with a male lover, an Breton named Moriin.[6]

In his 26-year reign, Haakon never proclaim himself as Emperor, because he feels that the office of High King is rightful title. He had given the citizens the right of religion, including the Nine Divines (later Ten), earning the nicknamed, "The Reverend".

Death[]

In his final years, Haakon didn't produced a heir, and had gained weight. His last was on a battlefield, when he once again put down the riot in his capital city, which he had problems putting it down quickly. His last public appearances was at the funeral of Empress Marcella Varian in 5E 68,[7][8] a meeting with the newly-crowned Empress Livia the following year, and celebrated his Silver jubilee in 5E 70.[9][10] However Haakon died a year later in 5E 71, after suffering multiple fevers and his rapidly health declining.[11][12] After his death, Haakon's empire was succeeded by Empress Livia's son, Claudius Varian before becoming Emperor.
